Campaign Rd 2 Daemons Vs IG


The Forces of the Imperial guard were meant to be long gone; fate had them instead in our path. As fortune would have it they brought with them exactly what we required to begin “refitting” the Manufactoriums of Hive Wunil; the souls of the false god emperor of man.

Ambush intended for the faithful servants "The Ultramarines" instead was sprung on the Imperial guard. Returning from defeat to regroup and reinforce the Imperial guard were moving along in convoy through sparse vegetation and and rocky terrain. There the Daemons of Tzeentch and the machines of the master of the forge materialized prepared for battle. The lowly pink horrors of Tzeentch littered the battlefield, preparing a fortress for the strength of the invasion force and destroying as many potential threats to the soul grinders as possible. Precise shots and fortuitous positioning landed bolts of warp energy raining down on vital targets across the battlefield splitting a chimera asunder and revealing the Lascannon inside, and destroying the main turret of the exterminator tank. In return the Imperial guard eliminated two full squads of the horrors and weakened the other three as position once again was a strong ally of Tzeentch and the guard were forced to accept secondary targets. (1-2 kill points) More imposing forces arrive, a squad of flamers six strong and the first of three massive soul grinders towering over the battlefield, this one capable of lashing out with it's tongue and splitting even the sturdiest armor. The goal of the round was simple finish removing the threats to the incoming soul grinders and destroy stranded guardsmen before they can safely escape the trap. Another chimera splits to the fire of a bolt and the soul grinder is lucky enough to destroy the punisher armed with two multi-meltas. In return the guard, with dwindling firepower eliminate another squad of horrors and lay into flamers but their unnatural form shakes off the wounds.
(3-3 kill points) Another soul grinder warps into the fray honing in on the chaos icon and materializing precisely where intended, expelling blasts of phlegm the soul grinders finally begin to lay low the fearful souls before them, one squad is killed to a man and the other turns to flee. Guard rally their men and continue to blast horrors out of existence. (4 -4 kill points) The battlefield falls silent as Akiiki the Lord of Change, chosen of Tzeentch appears in all his might and splendor, beside him another, the third and final of the creations of the forge materializes awaiting command. Akiiki asses the battlefield, flamers annihilate the recently rallied veterans and a soul grinder puts to use it's adamantine claws against a chimera while Akiiki himself shakes the gunner of the exterminator tank, with a bellow and a bolt. Guard have a moment of triumph as the final lascannon on the battlefield sends a shot through the hull of a soul grinder leaving it a lump of materials. (6-5) The rout is on as the two remaining grinders move to engage guardsmen and Akiiki takes flight prepared to lay to ruin the command chimera and the mortals inside. Another horror squad falls leaving only the changeling squad hiding out on the outskirts. (7-6) Daemons victory.

Moving forward laden with the adamantine of the exploded soul grinder and the lifeless, or mostly lifeless bodies of dozens of guardsmen the forces of Akiiki lay sights on the factories of the mortal hive city.
